Friday August 30, 2024 (OTTAWA) —
Today marks the beginning of the highly anticipated Labour Day baseball tournament hosted by Carleton University, in collaboration with the Ottawa Nepean Canadians (ONC). This three-day event, starting August 30th, will see teams from Carleton, McGill, Watson, and ONC competing in a series of games at Hamilton Field. Day 1 kicks off with a round-robin format, featuring 7-inning games where each team plays twice.
Tomorrow, Day 2, will continue with more 7-inning games, crucial for determining semi-final placements. The final day, September 1, will feature intense 9-inning semi-final matches and culminate in a championship game to crown the tournament winner.
The event serves as a critical pre-season test for university teams to solidify their lineups and strategies while providing prep teams with valuable exposure. This year’s tournament also marks the return of ONC as a co-host, renewing a partnership that has helped shape this competition into a significant event on the Canadian collegiate baseball calendar. As the games unfold, fans can expect exciting matchups, showcasing talent and sportsmanship.
