Carleton Ravens rookie starter Alex Lajeunesse (2-2, 3.04 ERA) struck out nine batters and allowed only one run on two hits to carry Carleton to a 10-1 victory over the University of Ottawa Gee Gees at RCGT Stadium Wednesday night. The New Hampshire native now leads all pitchers in the Canadian Collegiate Baseball Association with 29 strikeouts over 25.1 innings.
Carleton scored six runs in the sixth in support of Lajeunesse including an RBI single by Shawn Green (.133, 5 RBIs), a two-run single by Ethan Nodwell (.452, 9 RBIs), a groundout by Dominic Plaschy (.241, 5 RBIs), an RBI single by Mike Heffer (.241, 5 RBIs), and an RBI single by Spencer Shelton (.231, 2 RBIs) who went 2 for 3 with a double on the night.
Phil Lafleche lasted two innings on the mound for the Gee Gees before being removed after allowing four hits and four runs in the losing effort.
Carleton never surrendered the lead after the second inning and is now 7-5 on the back of a four-game winning streak. The Ravens are in second place in the Northern Division. They next travel to Montreal to take on the Université de Montréal Carabins (3-9) October 1st and the McGill Redmen (10-1) Saturday October 8th to finish the regular season.
