AJAX (Oct.17.2021) –
A late comeback from the Carleton Ravens wasn’t enough as the McMaster Marauders held on for a 7-inning 6-5 win in the OUA semi-finals on Sunday afternoon. After a ran soaked Saturday forced the tournament to cut down to 7-inning games the Ravens fell behind early in the first and took a while to get warmed up.
Behind 6-0 in the 5th inning the Ravens bats would come alive, scoring 5 runs over the next two innings before being shut out in the 7th. Quinton McRae (Oshawa, Ont.) got the Ravens started with a two-out 2 RBI double in the fifth before the Ravens would get creative in the bottom of the 6th. After a Trent Verch (Ottawa, Ont.) sac fly, Andrew Sahadeo (Ottawa, Ont.) would double driving in Matias Wiebe. After adding another runner with a walk, Sahadeo would advance to third on a wild pitch in time for Damon Gregoris (Whitby, Ont.) to drive him home with a single.
That would be as close as the Ravens would come, as McMaster would turn to their bullpen for the final four outs of the game, ending the Ravens comeback and season.
