OTTAWA (SEP. 4) — Carleton University Baseball is pleased to announce that alumnus Steve Renaud (Class of 2013) has joined the Ravens coaching staff on a full-time basis as bench, hitting, and infield coach.
Renaud first joined the staff late last season during the Ravens’ historic run to their first-ever national championship. He now brings over a decade of coaching and managerial experience in the Ottawa baseball community, including tenures with the Ottawa Knights and Watson Elite, where he played a key role in developing youth players across the region. He also remains active as a player in the Bytown Battalion of the NCBL.
“Having worked with [Steve] for years I am thrilled to have him join our staff” said Head Coach Daylon Courchene. “His baseball knowledge will definitely add to our program.”
“It really is special when a notable alumnus like Renaud comes back to help the team” added General Manager and Faculty Advisor George Rigakos, “It’s a real boost to the program.”
In 2020, Renaud was recognized as Player of the Decade in a poll of current and former coaches and managers. During his playing career with the Ravens (2011–2013), he was a standout both offensively and defensively, helping Carleton capture the 2011 conference championship and reach the 2013 national semi-final. That same year, he earned honours as CIBA Northern Conference Hitter of the Year, First Team All-Canadian, and national tournament All-Star shortstop.
Renaud’s 2013 season remains one of the finest individual campaigns in Ravens history: he hit .408 without striking out once, and in a decisive conference game against Ottawa, powered Carleton’s championship push with two home runs.
The Ravens are proud to welcome Coach Renaud back to the program as a leader and mentor for the next generation of Carleton baseball players.
