Ravens coach and Manager Andre Robidoux assisted with the player evaluations at the Canterbury Community Centre last weekend for the
South Ottawa Little League. South Ottawa is putting together its travel team for the Ancaster TeeBall world series this Summer and Robidoux volunteered with hitting, throwing and fielding skills evaluations.
Last month (May 24th) players from the Ravens ran a divisional practice for little leaguers aged 7-8. South Ottawa sent a note of thanks:
A big thank you has been sent to the Carleton University team members who led the session along with team coaches. They donate their time to support our league and help children learn the great sport of baseball…
We heard from one [South Ottawa] player that “tonight was the most fun and best practice ever in my whole baseball teams”. I’d say that is a first rate review.
The Ravens have an established relationship with South Ottawa, previously running practices on their behalf. “This is part of our general outreach with the community” Robidoux said, “I probably get as much enjoyment from assisting young players as they do playing”.
Robidoux will soon have to set his sights on evaluating university-level talent at Carleton. The Ravens start their season in September and try-outs begin in August.
