OTTAWA (May 3.2018) –
Ryan Norris has been named the new Pitching Coach by the Carleton University Ravens Baseball team.
After the team’s recent return from a US trip, head coach Andre Robidoux, having had an opportunity to assess Norris, is confident he will help the team.
“He knows pitching. He’s very knowledgable and he’s going to be an asset for sure” said Robidoux. “In a short time, he already has the respect of the players.”
Norris has been contributing to the club since January. He readied the pitching staff and catchers ahead of the team’s Spring trip to Maine and has assisted starter Derek Harkin during the Ravens’ youth Winter Prep camps focusing on pitching.
For his part, Norris is “excited about being part of collegiate baseball again” and says that he wants to “build on last year toward a national title.”
He adds: “We have some great young talent. It’s a great opportunity.”
Norris is a graduate of Durham College and has also coached competitive baseball in Oshawa with the Legionnaires. Norris is the second addition to the coaching staff named in 2018. Matti Emery was named the new Assistant Coach and Director Player Development in January.
“We need to continue building the team in the right direction after such a positive year in 2017-18” said team President George Rigakos “and Ryan is going to be an important part of that future.”
