OTTAWA (Feb.20.2018) –
Now heading into its sixth week, the Carleton Ravens baseball Winter prep camp is once again proving to be a success.
“Our partnership with South Ottawa Little League has been a win-win” said Ravens President George Rigakos. “We have over forty registrations this Winter. This looks like it will be an annual camp that will continue.”
This year the Ravens added a specialty camp on pitching on Thursday nights led by Ravens starter Derek Harken. The Tuesday camps, focusing on hitting and fielding are led by Assistant Coach Matti Emery.
On Saturday mornings, Ryan Burnside leads his U11 team at the Carleton Fieldhouse.
The Ravens assist South Ottawa with player evaluations and coaching, especially in their TeeBall program. They have also added players from the U11 Ottawa City Baseball Association Mosquito Rep team.
“All of this is dependent on volunteer hours from our players” says head coach Andre Robidoux. “They reap the benefits of their own work. The revenue we raise goes directly to support our program. When one not-for-profit helps another not-for-profit in this way, the whole baseball community benefits.”
Just like last year, the Ravens will be using part of the proceeds to finance their Spring trip to the US to play against American college competition. This year the team will be travelling to Maine.
